Ceist:245 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the procedures which are in place for the formulation of the National Heritage Plan. [20496/01]
Written Answers. - National Heritage Plan.
I initiated a broad public consultation process in relation to the development of the plan and some 350 submissions were received and assessed. Parallel preparatory work and consultation was undertaken within my Department involving an assessment of the current management of our heritage.
The draft plan was circulated to Departments on a consultative basis and their reactions to proposals have been considered. The drafting of the plan is being finalised within my Department and I hope to publish it later this year after obtaining Government approval.
