249 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the action she has taken to obtain clearance from the European Commission for the increase in share capital of £10 million for An Post; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22172/01]
Following the Government's decision in July this year to increase the share capital of An Post by IR£10 million, a submission has been made to the European Commission for clearance under the state aid regime. I also met in Brussels with representatives of the Commission on Monday, 1 October 2001 to press Ireland's case for an early and positive response to our request.
