Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

707 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to a commitment given over two years ago by Galway County Council to take in charge the Boyounagh-Ballyedmond group water scheme at Clonberne, County Galway; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that the necessary funding is not available to Galway County Council to carry out this work; if he will make sufficient moneys available to this project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21752/01]

Under the devolved rural water programme for 2001, Galway County Council has received a block grant allocation of £3.175 million (4.03 million), of which £0.7 million (0.88 million) is intended for expenditure on the taking in charge of group water schemes. It is a matter for the council to determine local priorities under this arrangement.

Question No. 708 answered with Question No. 692.
