Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Special Exemption Orders.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

897 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if gardaí have received a number of complaints from residents of Lower Dominick Street Flats regarding levels of noise, disturbance and anti-social behaviour of patrons leaving premises (details supplied) in Dublin 1 in the early hours; and if these objections will form the basis of a Garda objection to the renewal of the licence of the premises concerned. [21834/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the premises in question is regularly granted special exemption orders by the District Court and that a resident of the area has expressed concerns to the Garda Síochána in relation to alleged anti-social behaviour and noise caused by patrons of this premises. I confirm, however, that the premises are the subject of regular inspection by members of the Garda Síochána at Store Street Garda station, with a particular emphasis on under-age drinking and anti-social behaviour. I am further informed by the Garda authorities that there are currently no grounds to support a Garda objection to the granting of a special exemption order or the renewal of the seven day licence which is attached to the premises.
