Vol. 541 No. 4

Written Answers. - Parking Regulations.

Deirdre Clune

Ceist:

353 Ms Clune asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the legislation or regulations in place prohibiting the parking of large commercial vehicles in housing estates; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23256/01]

Article 38 of the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations, 1997, empowers local authorities to apply the prohibition on the parking of large vehicles in specified areas. Decisions in relation to the locations where such prohibitions are to be applied and the size of vehicles subject to them are matters for local authorities. Enforcement of the regulations is primarily a matter for the Garda Síochána.
