Vol. 542 No. 2

Written Answers. - Film Documentary.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

278 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Finance if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 271 of 9 October 2001 his Department will fund the film documentary on the River Nore flood relief project in view of the importance of this project and the huge investment of £30 million which is being made by the State; if the 1% rule used to fund works of art for large projects can be applied to this case and be used to fund the documentary; and if his Department will fund the project. [24039/01]

In major capital projects of this nature, it would be the normal practice of the Office of Public Works to maintain a record of the development of the project. This is usually a photographic record, but in some cases has been a film or short video. I believe a film is appropriate in this case. The Office of Public Works will develop the brief for this and make arrangements for its commissioning.
