122 Mrs. Owen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason statutory redundancy has not been paid to the staff of a company (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25691/01]

Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (Mr. T. Kitt): Transaer International Airlines Limited was placed in provisional liquidation on the 20 October 2000 and the official liquidator was appointed by order of the High Court on the 1 November 2000. All statutory redundancy lump sum claims received to date from the liquidator have been processed and payments made to individual employees. There is one outstanding statutory redundancy lump sum claim that is the subject of query and my Department is awaiting clarification on this from the liquidator.

With regard to insolvency payments claims, the following payments have been made: wages – £10,348.73 in respect of 55 employees; holiday pay – £185,759.20 in respect of 271 employees; minimum notice compensation – £36,695.35 in respect of 50 employees; total paid – £232,803.28.

Minimum notice has not been paid to approximately 210 employees as the liquidator has appealed the Employment Appeals Tribunal's determinations to the High Court. I understand from inquiry to the liquidator's office that the case has not yet been listed.
