Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Agriculture Appeals Office.

Ulick Burke

Ceist:

253 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the members of the independent appeals board; the Departments they have previously served in; the level attained if previous service was within the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development; the most recent sections they served in; if any are from outside the public-Civil Service; if so, their suitability for this position; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26274/01]

The legislation governing the establishment of the new Agriculture Appeals Office was enacted in July. No staff have been appointed yet. Planning for the staffing and accommodation of the office is, however, well advanced. A Civil Service Commission inter-departmental competition for the appointment of the director and deputy director of the office is expected to be advertised shortly and arrangements for the recruitment of the remaining staff from within the Civil Service will be commenced as soon as possible thereafter.
