174 Mr. D. Carey asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her Department has received an application for employee aid as a result of the liquidation of a company (details supplied) in County Clare; if she will expedite payment to the employees who have been without income for a number of weeks; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The liquidators of this company are now in the process of making an application for statutory redundancy lump sums payments in respect of the employees.

The liquidators have been assured by redundancy payments section of the Department that every effort will be made to deal with the claims of all employees eligible under the Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967 to 1991, as quickly as possible, and to ensure that they receive their correct statutory redundancy entitlement.

Employees may also be eligible for payments under the insolvency payments scheme in accordance with the Protection of Employees (Employers' Insolvency) Acts, 1984 to 1991, e.g., arrears of pay, holiday and sick pay, entitlements under Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Acts, 1973 to 1991. Applications for such payments, when received, will also be treated as expeditiously as possible.
