Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

David Stanton

157 Mr. Stanton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when the former employees of a company (details supplied) will be paid redundancy payments through her Department; the obstacles which remain and which may be holding up this payment; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27470/01]

With regard to the company concerned the position is that 341 employees for whom statutory redundancy claims were received have now been paid. There were a further 47 claims received in respect of employees who did not meet the required minimum service of 104 weeks. These claims were refused and the employees were informed accordingly.

Four claims have yet to be processed for employees whose services were retained by the liquidator for an extended period. As soon as the Department is informed of their adjusted dates of termination payment will be made without delay.
