I propose to take Questions Nos. 107 and 253 together.
The feasibility study, A Stadium for the New Century, which is available in the Library of the House and on the Web, includes a section, "Economic Impact Assessment", which deals with the social and economic impact, including job creation, of the proposed stadium. It was estimated that during the construction phase of the project a total of 7,506 full time jobs could be created while 23 permanent and 560 event related operating jobs would be created following completion of the construction phase.
The terms of reference for the independent overview of the cost of the Stadium and Sports Campus Ireland project stated that the consultants should also "ascertain the direct and indirect benefits" of the project. This would include estimates for the potential for job creation from the project. The terms of reference did not require either set of consultants to comment on the possible use of Sports Campus Ireland as a home venue for a soccer team in a new European league as no such proposal has been put forward for consideration.
The cost overview has now been completed and the final report has been presented to the steering group of senior officials appointed by Government to oversee the work. As soon as I receive the final report from the steering group with their advice, I intend submitting it to Government for its consideration. I have already indicated to the House that, until the report has been considered by Government, I do not intend to make any statement on its contents.
Question No. 108 answered with Question No. 78.
