Vol. 544 No. 2

Written Answers. - Drug Treatment Services.

Charles Flanagan

Ceist:

92 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received an application for funding from a youth addiction and treatment centre (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if a commitment was made in respect of funding outstanding; and if he will make a statement on the matter with a view towards expediting grant aid. [28373/01]

The provision of funding for drug treatment services is the statutory responsibility of the health boards. The centre referred to by the Deputy receives annual funding of £240,000 from the South-Eastern Health Board for drug treatment services for adolescents from the South-Eastern, the Southern and Mid-Western Health Boards. An application from this centre was recently received for funding under the health and children allocation of national lottery funds. This application is currently being considered and the organisation will be informed as soon as a decision has been made.
