*(3) The chief executive is not a member of the board.
*(4) The Transport (Railway Infrastructure) Bill, 2001, when enacted, will provide for the setting up of the Railway Procurement Agency. An interim board was established on 12 July 2001.
The Deputy may also wish to note that the Sustainable Energy Bill, which is currently awaiting a date for Second Stage in the Dáil, provides for the establishment of the Irish Energy Centre as a statutory body under the new title of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. If the Bill is enacted during this Dáil session, it will necessitate the appointment of a board to the new authority. An interim board, appointed by the Minister of State, is currently in place since December 2000. The current chairman is Professor Frank Convery.
