251 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the amount of capital expenditure which was spent by his Department since July 1997 to 1 November 2001; the percentage of this which was spent in County Wicklow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29285/01]
The amount of capital expenditure spent by my Department in the years 1997 to 2000 is £800.9 million – 1016.9 million. The allocation in the current year is £370.5 million – 470.4 million. This level of funding has enabled my Department to undertake a record number of building projects, and it is my intention to continue this rate of progress in overcoming the deficit arising from many past years and in meeting the needs of the present day. I regret that the percentage of this figure allocated to projects in County Wicklow is not readily available, as the capital is distributed on a project by project basis.
