Vol. 544 No. 5

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Fitzgerald – the proposed closure of Sandymount post office and Government policy on local post offices in Dublin; (2) Deputy Roche – the discovery of a second illegal dump containing bio-hazardous material from Dublin hospitals at a site in west Wicklow; the necessity to engage the Garda, the Criminal Assets Bureau and the EPA in an external investigation of this matter and the question of suspending the licence held by the company or companies involved in the collection of hospital waste while such investigations are ongoing; (3) Deputy Gormley – the need to ensure that post offices are retained in villages as an essential service.

The matter raised by Deputy Roche has been selected for discussion.
