Vol. 544 No. 5

Written Answers. - Light Rail Project.

Ceist:

111 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if her attention has been drawn to the fact that residents in Bluebell, Dublin 12, have lost their telephone, electricity, water and gas supplies due to Luas works; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [29468/01]

I am informed by the light rail project office of CIE that residents in the Bluebell area have been inconvenienced recently on account of work carried out in relation to the construction of Luas. Work on damage to a power cable necessitated interrupting telephone, water and gas supplies. After the fault was detected the ESB brought in a generator and power was restored soon after. I have been assured that meetings have taken place between the light rail project office, the contractors and senior ESB officials to review procedures and to minimise the risk of this occurring again.
