Vol. 545 No. 4

Written Answers. - Corporation Tax.

Joe Higgins

Ceist:

225 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for Finance the amount of corporation tax paid to the Exchequer by multinational corporations here for each year from 1990 to date in 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31002/01]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that statistics on the amount of corporation tax paid by multinational corporations are not separately available. However, data can be derived from corporation tax returns on the percentage of corporation tax attributable to companies taxed wholly or partly at the reduced rate of 10%. Many of these companies could be classed as multinational corporations. However, this category also includes Irish manufacturing or other companies on the 10% rate as well as foreign multinationals. This information, which is available for accounting periods ending between 1 April 1993 and 31 March 2000, the latest available, is as set out below. Corresponding data are not available for earlier years.
