235 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress in drawing up plans for the new Garda station in Ballymun, Dublin 9; when he expects planning permission to be applied for; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32289/01]
It is proposed to build a new divisional headquarters Garda station at Ballymun. A brief of requirements is being prepared by the Garda authorities and when this is completed the Office of Public Works will be asked to produce a sketch scheme.
It is not possible to say, at this point, when this project might commence. I assure the Deputy, however, that the building of the station will be progressed as quickly as possible in accordance with overall Garda building programme priorities and the availability of financial and other resources.
