Vol. 547 No. 1

Written Answers. - Autism Services.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

616 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will support the provision of a centre for autism in Kilkenny; the way in which this proposal can be implemented; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2118/02]

The provision of services to persons with autism in the Kilkenny area is a matter in the first instance for the South Eastern Health Board. My Department has and will continue to work with the health boards, including the South Eastern Health Board, in the provision of resources to meet the needs of persons with autism. However, decisions in relation to the location and nature of any service developments are a matter for the individual boards in line with the priorities which have been identified for their regions.
