869 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the capital projects financed by her Department in each constituency which commenced or were completed in 2001; the amount of money in each case; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1303/02]
The information requested by the Deputy is set out below on a county basis – except where a constituency consists of more than one county. The information refers to capital projects commenced or completed by the Department in 2001. It does not include regular ongoing capital works, such as maintenance, nor does it include capital grants made by the Department during the year, for example. It should be noted that while Waterways Ireland is a North-South implementation body all its capital projects are financed by the jurisdiction where the project is situated.
I would like to point out to the Deputy that Údarás na Gaeltachta currently has approximately 385 capital projects on hand of vastly different scale and type. Given the time constraints, it was not possible for An tÚdarás to provide a definitive list of projects completed in 2001. Therefore, in relation to Údarás na Gaeltachta, the reply includes only projects commenced during 2001.
