Vol. 548 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Tony Killeen

Ceist:

471 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason his Department is not proceeding with a greenfield site option for St. Joseph's secondary school, Tulla, County Clare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5857/02]

Following discussions between the trustees of the school and officials of my Department, it has been agreed that an extension of 1,096 square metres can be accommodated at the site of the existing school. Therefore, it is not necessary to proceed with a greenfield site option.

Ceist:

472 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans he has to provide additional circulation space, playing area and facilities, car parking area and safe school bus access for pupils at St. Joseph's secondary school, Tulla, County Clare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5858/02]

My Department is currently making provision for three temporary classrooms to address the current accommodation requirements of St. Joseph's secondary school, Tulla. It is proposed to provide an extension of 1,096 square metres in the future. The provision of adequate site accommodation is a matter for the school authority.
