Written Answers. - European Football Championship.
Following on initial contacts between the Taoiseach and the first Minister of the Scottish Executive, I have spoken with the Scottish Minister with responsibility for sport, Mr. Mike Watson, in relation to a possible joint Irish-Scottish bid for the hosting of the European Football Championship Finals in 2008, including a formal meeting held in Dublin on 5 February 2002.
A steering committee comprising representatives of the Scottish Executive, the Scottish FA, the Football Association of Ireland and the Government is currently considering the preparation of final bid documentation, which must be submitted to UEFA by 31 May 2002.
