Vol. 549 No. 1

Written Answers. - Objective One Status.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

228 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the advantages under his Department's remit that have accrued to County Donegal and the north west region arising from the Objective One designation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6045/02]

There is provision in the National Development Plan 2000-2006, for funding in the education sector, through the employment and human resources development operational programme, the productive sector operational programme as well as the two regional operational programmes.

As the Deputy will be aware the Border midland and western region was designated in 1999 as an Objective One region. In general, programmes in the education sector are delivered on a national basis.

As regards the specific information requested by the Deputy in relation to County Donegal and the north west region, due to the wide range of programmes in the education sector, it would require an inordinate amount of official time to answer the question in the detail requested. However if the Deputy has any queries regarding a specific measure, I will be happy to seek to obtain the information for her.
