Vol. 549 No. 1

Written Answers. - Public Health Policy.

Gerry Reynolds

Ceist:

72 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has considered the appointment of a surgeon general. [5840/02]

As the Deputy may be aware, my Department's chief medical office, Dr. Jim Kiely, is charged with providing medical and public health advice to me and to my Department. He and his medical team also support my Department in policy formulation and in the evaluation of developments in public health and the provision of medical services generally. I have no plans to appoint a surgeon general.
