54 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the terms or conditions under which members of the Garda are rostered to provide security at private weddings; if the functions of the gardaí in such situations extend to protecting lucrative private agreements regarding photographic rights for such occasions by restricting the access of other photographers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda authorities who are responsible for the detailed allocation of personnel and resources to individual areas that the role of the Garda Síochána in relation to private weddings and other events is confined to traffic management and the prevention of breaches of the criminal law.

I am also informed by the Garda authorities that the gardaí have no function in relation to the protection of private agreements.
