Vol. 549 No. 3

Written Answers. - Chiropody Service.

Seán Ryan

Ceist:

218 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Health and Children his plans to extend the free chiropody service for elderly people to their own homes from three to five visits per year. [6388/02]

The provision of medical services, including domiciliary chiropody visits, is the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the relevant health board-authority. The level and range of chiropody service available varies between health boards, but in the Eastern Regional Health Authority the current service allows for four visits per year, which also covers domiciliary visits where the need is established.
