Vol. 549 No. 3

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

360 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position regarding a visitor's or entry visa for persons (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6522/02]

The position in respect of non-EEA nationals who are legally employed in the State and who wish to be joined here by visa required family members is that, with the exception of persons employed in a number of high skill areas, the worker in question must have been in the State for a period of 12 months and have the expectation of remaining here for at least a similar period before he or she can be joined here.

In this instance, applications to reside in the State have been received from the persons referred to by the Deputy. As the worker in question will fulfil the 12 month requirement in August 2002, new applications in respect of the family members concerned should be made shortly before that time.
