Vol. 550 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

87 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the plan to provide a new unit in St. Vincent's Hospital, Dublin 4 for persons affected by cystic fibrosis; when the unit will be constructed and fitted out; and the steps being taken to improve facilities in the short-term. [7265/02]

A major re-development project is currently under way at St. Vincent's University Hospital. On completion of the project, other services presently provided adjacent to the cystic fibrosis unit will be re-located. It is intended to expand and develop the cystic fibrosis unit by utilising the space thus vacated. In the meantime, I understand the hospital is examining the possibility of effecting some interim improvements to the current unit.

Seán Ryan

Ceist:

88 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay in receiving treatment in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin. [7266/02]

Responsibility for the provision of health services to persons living in County Dublin rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has therefore asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
