257 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the payments made in 2001 to Counties Cavan and Monaghan under the various livestock schemes, the farm retirement schemes and REP scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9240/02]
The total amounts paid to farmers in Counties Cavan and Monaghan under the various livestock and arable aid schemes during calendar year 2001 were as follows: Cavan, €35.795m; Monaghan, €28.921m.
Under the scheme of early retirement from farming, €2.467 million was paid in Cavan and €1.404 million in Monaghan. Payments under the rural environmental protection scheme were €4.995 million in Cavan and €3.054 million in Monaghan.
