Vol. 551 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Bruton

Ceist:

525 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the status of the building project for a new school at Eureka secondary school, Kells, County Meath; the reason people are having difficulties getting information from his Department regarding this project; when a decision will be made on the provision of the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10046/02]

A suitable site for the new school at Eureka secondary school, Kells, County Meath has been identified. Officials in the building unit of my Department will shortly commence negotiations with the vendor with a view to acquiring this site. Assuming agreement can be reached as to the price of the site, it will be necessary to obtain outline planning permission before formally concluding a deal. In the circumstances, it is not possible to provide a time-frame for the completion of this project. The Deputy can be assured that my officials will work assiduously to progress this project. I am unaware of any difficulties being experienced by people seeking information on this project as the school management authority has been regularly updated on its progress.
