Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - Building Regulations.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

167 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the regulations on building sites of, for example, five to ten houses. [10888/02]

A number of regulations apply to a person who intends to construct a residential development. The national building regulations apply to all new houses commenced on or after 1 June 1992, including Part C: Site Preparation. Under these regulations, a person proposing to build a new house must serve a commencement notice on the local building control authority, together with the appropriate fee, €30 per new dwelling, prior to commencement of construction. In addition, the developer will have to comply with any condition of the planning permission which relates to the site works, for example, any limitation on the hours of construction, as well as, of course, any requirements of health and safety legislation.
