Vol. 551 No. 4

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

263 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science the service provision for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11, who has been assessed by the National Educational Psychological Service and is deemed to be in need of learning support and occupational therapy; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that these services are not available for the person; if he will arrange for these services to be provided as a matter of urgency; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10871/02]

The school attended by the child in question has the services of one full-time learning support teacher. The provision of occupational therapy is a matter for my colleague the Minister for Health and Children. I have asked my Department's inspectorate to investigate urgently the needs of the child in question.
