212 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he has given ministerial approval to Bord na gCon for the acquisition of Mullingar and Enniscorthy racing tracks; and if such approval conforms with the Department of Finance's code of practice for the governance of State bodies. Under the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958, the control and development of greyhound racing are functions delegated to Bord na gCon, and it is matter for the board of Bord na gCon to decide how these functions are discharged. It is within the board's remit to decide on the acquisition or otherwise of greyhound tracks in the light of normal investment appraisals and I do not propose to interfere in what is a matter for the board.
