Vol. 552 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

75 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Finance if he has purchased a property at Seville Lodge, Kilkenny, for the purpose of providing a school for autistic children as part of the school of the Holy Spirit, Kilkenny; if so, when the deal will be completed; and when the construction work will commence. [12223/02]

The Commissioners of Public Works act as agents on behalf of the Department of Education and Science in the acquisition of sites for new school facilities. The Office of Public Works is currently in the process of completing a technical assessment of a site option within the grounds of Seville Lodge, Kilkenny, for the relocation of School of the Holy Spirit. A report on the outcome of that assessment, incorporating my office's recommendations, will be furnished to the Department of Education and Science for their consideration in the very near future. The provision of funding for purchases of sites and for new school facilities is a matter for that Department.
