Vol. 552 No. 4

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

118 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the failure of the Department of Marine and Natural Resources and his Department to reach agreement on the terms of reference of the foreshore licence applied for by Waterford County Council for the provision of a sewerage scheme at Cheekpoint, County Waterford; if he will intervene to ensure that European funding for the urgently needed scheme will not be lost; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12459/02]

My Department is currently in discussion with the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources in relation to foreshore licensing requirements for a number of water services schemes, including the Cheekpoint sewerage scheme, with a view to facilitating compliance with individual scheme timetables. The Cheekpoint scheme is Exchequer-funded and is not benefiting from any assistance from the EU.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

119 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will sanction funding for Kilcummin sewerage scheme, County Kerry, as a matter of urgency as Kerry County Council is in a position to proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12657/02]

This scheme has been included in my Department's water services investment programme, 2002-2004, announced last week, to advance through planning as part of the Lough Leane catchment project.

This scheme has been included in my Department's water services investment programme, 2002-2004, announced last week, to advance through planning.
