Vol. 552 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Chris Flood

Ceist:

170 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has received an application from St. Maelruan's national school, Old Bawn, Tallaght, Dublin 24 for the carrying out of refurbishment works; the details of these refurbishment works; if he will approve the application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12732/02]

My Department has received an application from the authorities of St. Maelruan's national school, Old Bawn, Tallaght – roll numbers 19462 and 19463 – for grant-aid towards security fencing, major external works and electrical and heating works.

Due to the extensive nature of the external works and security fencing, planning permission will be required for the development. A firm of external architects are preparing the application for planning permission and it is understood it will be lodged shortly. The school authorities have also been authorised to appoint a mechanical and electrical consultant to prepare a report on the condition of the existing electrical and heating services and when this report is received, the matter will be progressed further.
