Vol. 553 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Bruton

Ceist:

318 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding the provision of a site for Dunboyne Gaelscoil; his Department's involvement in the acquisition of a site; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13161/02]

My Department recently issued a payment to Gaelscoil Tulach na n-Óg, Dunboyne towards the cost of moving to an alternative temporary site.

Decisions in relation to the timing of the purchase of a permanent site for Gaelscoil Tulach na n-Óg, Dunboyne and the subsequent building project proceeding to architectural planning are taken in the light of the annual allocation for capital projects, the financial commitments to be met and the priority to be afforded to individual projects. The programme for 2002 is in place and the schools concerned have been notified.

Later this year, when a financial allocation has been made for the primary school building programme in the 2003 Estimates, I will be framing a further comprehensive programme of works and this will involve putting more projects into architectural planning and determining the priorities in relation to site purchase. The needs of Gaelscoil Tulach na n-Óg, Dunboyne, including the timing of when a permanent site can be purchased, will be considered at that time.
