Ceist:115 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Finance if it is intended to rename the proposed Department of Communications and Natural Resources; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13656/02]
Written Answers. - Renaming of Department.
Section 6(1) of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1939, permits the Government to transfer, by order, functions from one Minister or Department to another and to change the name and title of Ministers and Departments.
An order entitled Marine and Natural Resources (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 2002 – S.I. No. 307 of 2002 – changed the title of the Minister and the Department from that of the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources and the Department of the Marine and Natural Resources to the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources and the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources. This order is effective from 19 June 2002.
