Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Roads Projects.

Olivia Mitchell

Ceist:

1492 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has plans to build social housing on a former road reservation in Goatstown, which, if not required for the eastern by-pass, offers a recognised and potentially very valuable public transport corridor; if he will withhold approval for such proposed housing pending the outcome of a feasibility study currently being undertaken by Dublin Bus and other related studies being undertaken by the Dublin Transportation Office; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16063/02]

There are no proposals with my Department from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in relation to the construction of houses at the location in question. I understand, however, that the county council is awaiting a report from Dublin Bus on the feasibility of constructing a quality bus corridor on part of the site in question before proceeding further with a housing proposal.
