Ceist:

728 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the conditions under which teachers and pupils at the Gaelscoil in Midleton, County Cork, are operating; if he has received requests to assist in the provision of a new school; his plans in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17034/02]

My Department has an extensive primary school building programme under way at present, details of which are available on my Departments website at www.education.ie.

David Stanton

Ceist:

729 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science, further to Parliamentary Question No. 98 of 20 June 2002, when he intends to publish the school building programme for 2002; if Kilcredan national school will receive grant aid to allow new windows to be installed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17035/02]

Architectural planning for a building project at Kilcredan national school is at an early stage.

Decisions on projects proceeding to tender and construction are taken in the light of the annual allocation for primary school buildings, the financial commitments to be met and the priority to be afforded to individual projects.

My Department has an extensive primary school building programme for 2002 under way at present, details of which are available on my Departments website at www.education.ie. It is not envisaged that the proposed building project at Kilcredan national school will proceed to construction in 2002.

Later this year when a financial allocation has been made for the primary school building programme in the 2003 Estimates I will be framing a further comprehensive programme of works that will proceed to construction and the school concerned will be one of those considered for inclusion in that programme. My Department will be in contact with the schools concerned when the programme for 2003 is published.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

730 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the development of a school building (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17036/02]

A planning and briefing meeting was held on 26 June 2002 to discuss the stage 1 – site suitability, briefing and site report – for the school to which the Deputy refers and the design team were requested to submit revised proposals. These proposals are still awaited.
