826 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if, further to correspondence of 15 July 2002, he will issue a postage stamp of Fr. Flanagan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16805/02]
I understand that An Post has received a request for a stamp to commemorate Fr. Flanagan. The request is currently under consideration by An Post for inclusion in the 2004 special and commemorative stamp programme. All such requests are vetted by the independent philatelic advisory committee in An Post, which recommends the subjects for inclusion in the company's stamp programmes. In order to allow sufficient time for research, design and production, the annual stamp programmes are planned well in advance of the year of issue, usually two to three years.
