Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

1197 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children if an investigation independent of the Mid-Western Health Board will be arranged into the death of a person (details supplied) while in the care of the health board. [17223/02]

I with to extend my condolences to the family concerned on their tragic loss. Every sudden death, from whatever cause, of a patient in psychiatric care is regrettable. A full report surrounding the circumstances of the death will be sent to the Inspector of Mental Hospitals by the clinical director of the Limerick mental health services as soon as inquiries at local level are completed. I am not in a position to comment on the circumstances of the case until such time as an inquest has been held and the coroner's report made available.
