Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Parking Permits.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

1224 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Transport the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 does not qualify for a disabled person's parking permit; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15958/02]

Article 43 of the Road Traffic (Traffic and Parking) Regulations, 1997 (S.I. No. 182 of 1997), provides for the issuing of parking permits by local authorities, the Irish Wheelchair Association and the Disabled Drivers Association to a person who is suffering from a disability that prevents that person from walking or causes undue hardship to the person in walking. The decision in relation to eligibility in any individual case is a matter for the issuing body.
