[16128/02]

The bodies under the aegis of my Department which have not to date been made subject to the Freedom of Information Act are the following:

Aer Lingus

Aer Rianta

Bus Átha Cliath

Bus Éireann

Córas Iompar Éireann, CIE

Irish Aviation Authority

Iarnród Éireann

Railway Procurement Agency

Dublin Transportation Office

National Roads Authority

Medical Bureau of Road Safety

Of these, the following are due to be made subject to FOI with effect from 1 November 2002:

Railway Procurement Agency

Dublin Transportation Office

National Roads Authority

FOI has been extended to additional public bodies on a phased basis since it commenced in April 1998. This process is continuing and it is intended that those appropriate for inclusion will be covered by the end of 2005. The extension of FOI to the above bodies will be considered in this context in consultation with the bodies concerned.
