Vol. 555 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - Marine Rescue Service.

Paul Kehoe

Ceist:

244 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, the progress regarding providing a rescue helicopter in Waterford; and when this matter will be decided upon. [18368/02]

At present a 12-hour marine emergency helicopter service is provided at Waterford Airport. This service commenced in May 2002. It is planned to extend this service to provide 24-hour cover and in preparation for this the necessary helicopter operations and maintenance crews have now been recruited and are under training at this time. It is envisaged that a full 24-hour marine emergency service in Waterford will commence by end November 2002.
