Ceist:

180 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science if funds are available to the Curragh Youth Project from his Department or the agencies attached to his Department, to ensure that the Curragh Youth Project continues and ensures benefits for the youth of the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18530/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 179 and 180 together.

My Department received an application for funding under the special projects for youth scheme in respect of the Curragh Youth Project.

The application was considered by my Department but it was not found possible to accede to the request this year, having regard to the funding available and to the high level of existing commitments in the youth sector. A renewed application for funding in 2003 may be submitted to my Department and this application will be given full consideration in light of available financial resources.
