Olivia Mitchell

Ceist:

257 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the reasons there is no female representative on Bord na gCon, in view of the commitment given in the programme for Government for equal representation of males and females on State boards; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19157/02]

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

258 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism his plans to appoint a female onto the board of Bord na gCon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19158/02]

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

266 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he will honour the Government's decision of March 1993, that Ministers should endeavour to have a minimum of 40% of both men and women among persons nominated by Ministers to State bodies under their aegis, in relation to Bord na gCon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19351/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 257, 258 and 266 together.

I am aware that currently there are no women on the board of Bord na gCon. However, up to recently women had a strong representation on the board. A number of members on the current board are due to complete their term of office at the end of this year and I will address the gender balance issue on the board at that time.
