Vol. 555 No. 5

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

104 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if all sporting, recreational or similar awards or grants made by members of the Government to various sporting, voluntary or charitable organisations from central funds, the national lottery or other sources in the past 12 months, will be honoured in full; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19068/02]

The national lottery-funded sports capital programme, which is administered by my Department, allocates funding to sporting and community organisations at local, regional and national levels throughout the country towards the provision of sport and recreational facilities. The programme is advertised on an annual basis. The closing date for the receipt of completed applications under the 2002 programme was 4 January last and provisional grant allocations under the programme were announced on 29 March. Letters were subsequently issued to the successful applicants offering provisional allocations in accordance with the terms and conditions of the programme.

In addition, a number of grant allocations have been made to voluntary and charity organisations under ACCESS, the arts and culture capital enhancement support scheme, and in respect of other arts projects.

All grants allocated under the above programmes and schemes will be paid in full subject to compliance with the relevant criteria, terms and conditions.
