53 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he is reviewing the status of lands under the disadvantaged areas scheme; his proposals to include more lands in the scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19606/02]
There is a commitment in An Agreed Programme for Government to examine, in conjunction with the EU Commission, the possibility of extending the disadvantaged areas classification to the whole BMW region. It is the intention to pursue this matter in the context of the mid-term review of the CAP rural development plan. There are no plans to extend the scheme further.
