301 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science the funding allocated and the funding actually spent on the special rates of maintenance grant in the academic years 2000-01, 2001-02 and the current academic year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21473/02]
Funding is allocated by my Department to the local authorities and vocational education committees in respect of the special rates of maintenance grant. The allocation made by my Department in respect of the 2000-01 academic year was €4,974,696 and for the 2001-02 academic year was €5,530,798. The allocation in respect of the 2002-03 academic year will not be available until such time as all applications have been processed and awards subsequently made in respect of 2002-03.
